About

Alec Martin at Wigan Live Festival 2018

WHERE HE'S BEEN

"The man Bob Dylan came to see"prior to Bob's concert at Stirling Castle in the early 2000's....also the man generally credited with beginning the 'open mic format in the early 90's with his Bolton based Buskers Ball sessions.

Alec was a regular performer on the thriving Manchester folk circuit in the mid 1970's being billed as 'the funny man from Atherton'.As well as running his own club, he was also one of the resident hosts at he nationally regarded Poynton Folk Centre the year it was judged 'Folk Club of the Year' by readers of Melody Maker.

Alec's love and experiences within the acoustic music field is matched by his love of the blues. Founder and frontman of the well respected band NIGHT TRAIN, a band that has been gigging constantly both locally and nationally for 40 years.

A former music journalist, Alec has written and produced an album for his band, and also a solo album which has been decribed as a British 'Blood on the Tracks'

A typical performance by Alec mixes together tales and songs from his past (with a few Dylan numbers thrown in) alongside some hard hitting original music and a smattering of his original comedy material

The ALBUM

The original copies of this album have become something of a collectors' item, particularly in Japan and the USA. So much so that Alec has released the album digitally with a couple of bonus tracks.
Search on iTunes, Amazon Music, Dweezer etc and discover an album that has achieved cult status akin to the releases of Nick Drake in the early 70's.
An  English  songwriter baring his soul the way Dylan did on 'Blood on the Tracks'.
